18. To Those Who Send The Tele fax and/or Snail Mail (2000. 5.16)
Please advise us that you have done it via e-mail concurrently. We observe the incoming e-mail from time to time, but can not do for the tele fax and snail mail so frequently as e-mails. Our contracts with the credit card companies require that we calculate purchase prices in Yen. Thus, in order to issue requests for payment, we need USD-JPY conversion rates, for which we use the TTS Tokyo market rates for the day before we process a given order. Amounts issued by our credit company, DC Card, are sent to our customers' credit companies (VISA or Master Card) in Yen amounts, however, which the receiving companies convert back into US Dollars at the rate for the day on which they receive the request for payment. This amount is the amount for which they will ultimately bill our customers, and the likelihood that these various conversion rates will be comparable is effectively nonexistent.1. Any differences in cost resulting from such exchange rate fluctuations are the customer's sole responsibility. As of this writing, we are in negotiations with other credit card companies to see whether we can conduct transactions in US Dollars, without having to convert back and forth between Japanese Yen. Until such time as we are able to conduct credit transactions in US Dollars, however, we will have to continue making these currency conversions. We ask that you bear this in mind when placing orders with us. Thank you.
Note also that orders paid for with money orders do not incur such issues, because we bill money order payments in US Dollars at time of purchase.
For the time being, we are processing orders and requests for confirmation@of merchandise in stock, whether by email or fax, on a weekly basis, sending@out replies to such contacts on Saturday of the week in which we receive them, and in the order in which we receive them.
